MIA

Sorry I've been missing in action lately. Haven't felt much like posting ever since the typhoon. It seems to feel too trivial to pick out clothes & pose in front of the camera when I see so much suffering on the news and around me. Some people close to me were really affected and lost so much personal property. I'm only glad that they're all alive. Too many people have died needlessly.

I'll be back soon, though. I just need some time to get out of this blue funk.

Your Help Is Needed

A very strong tropical typhoon Ondoy (international name: Ketsana) hit the main island of Luzon last Saturday, leaving thousands of residents in the Philippine capital and nearby towns stranded without food, water, clothing & electricity. The reported death toll this morning has already reached 73 and is growing.

According to news reports, Metro Manila received a month's worth of rainfall in 6 hours leaving many residents unprepared for the flooding that resulted. Many people are in evacuation centers now and there are still a number trapped in their homes and on rooftops.

Relief efforts spearheaded by private citizens have been springing up to aid the efforts of the government and NGOs (non-government organizations). For those living in the Philippines who would like to make a difference:

Reposted from A Bugged Life: This is the link to the Disaster Relief Google Spreadsheet that is being compiled by volunteers, bloggers, NGO’s and citizens who are keeping a vigilant watch over the airwaves. The list compiles relief drop off points, private efforts, hotline numbers and establishments that have opened their doors to accommodate relief goods. Please scan through the document first before adding to prevent duplication.

This spreadsheet is open to the public. It is very comprehensive. Please share the link with everyone.

More information about where/how to donate/help, emergency numbers, calls for rescue, etc. here.

For my part, I'd like to offer 100% of the profits from the sale of this vintage cream lacy bodycon mini dress posted here.

I will be posting additional items for sale in the days to come. I guarantee that 100% of all proceeds will go to the aid of the flood victims.

For international readers or Filipinos living outside the country who want to help or make a donation, please check these links from Sun Star Cebu newspaper, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Philippine National Red Cross, Worldvision Foundation (scroll to bottom of webpage & look under "Outside the Philippines" for their bank account number) and TXTPower. Donations can be easily made via PayPal.

Many thanks in advance for your help and prayers.

M&S sweater, vintage Benetton jeans, thrifted vest, Zara booties

This is the first time I’ve worn this vest since I picked it up at the thrift store and it makes me feel a little painterly. It's really long (can double as a dress in a pinch) and has pockets in weird poufy shapes & in the oddest places (at the back, like a kangaroo in reverse) but I find it kind of avant-garde because of it.

I think that's also why I enjoy thrift shops. You never know what kind of treasures you will unearth, mostly for dirt cheap.

Instead of subjecting these jeans to bleach (which everybody’s already doing), I’m considering visiting the hardware store and “ruining” these jeans with paint flecks instead.

What happened?

When I logged on today, I was informed by blogger that I wasn't following any blogs. And true enough, I lost all the links to the blogs I was following.

Has this happened to somebody else? Is this just a glitch and will my links magically re-appear or should I be worried that somebody has hacked into my account?

Shoe Wishlist

Dear Santa,

I've been very good this year. I've been eating more vegetables,
drinking less soda, still no exercise but I do run around doing
errands a lot while carrying a very heavy bag (so I suppose
that counts as cardio and weights) and not losing my temper
(too much).

If your elves can find the time to surf net-a-porter,
these are just some of the things I'm hoping to find under
the Christmas tree this year.

Seriously, is it only 107(?) days 'til Christmas? Have you started shopping yet? My cousin has already finished shopping for her Christmas gifts 2 months ago. I have yet to start. I'm thinking of making most of my gifts this year. Wish me luck.

And while any of these babies would look great under the Christmas tree, I am wishing more for peace in the world, an improved world economy, health, a greener earth and more love all around.
